Jessica Savage sold one house in her first year in real estate. She didn’t know who paid her, thought it was her best friend, and tried to give her a discount. Last year she closed 11 sales, $6 million in volume, and $100,000 in income. That’s the arc of this episode of Identity Shift, and the reason I wanted to film it differently than any episode before it.
We met her where the work actually happens. We recorded this one at Blair Park at 6:35 in the morning, outdoors, because I wanted to capture something more than the milestones. Watching Jessica from the outside, I could see her growth in production and in her business overall, and I kept coming back to this routine of hers. She’s up here three to five times a week, posting between 6:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m., stretching, moving, clearing her head. She’s been climbing this mountain for about seven years. That consistency is the part most people skip when they tell these stories.
She was topped out before real estate. Jessica came from financial services, working in collections, calling defendants, and collecting payments. She loved it, but she was capped at around $50,000, and that number came with overtime and a monthly goal she had to hit for a bonus. If she took a vacation or spent time with her family, the money stopped. She ran both careers for about two years before the math got obvious: she was earning more in real estate in less time and getting more time with her family. Her mom, who had bought six or seven properties locally when the market crashed in 2008 and 2009, was the one who told her to get licensed in the first place.
The first two years were brutal. One sale the first year, two the second, while still working full time and leaving the office for inspections. Her director sat right next to her and eventually asked her to pick one. That’s a harder decision than it sounds, and Jessica was direct about it: she was scared, because she’d had a paycheck every two weeks for ten years. What changed her mind was closing three deals and realizing she had the reserves people tell you to build before you jump.
A mentor compressed the timeline. She joined a team, and her team lead showed her the systems, the client appreciation, the gift baskets, the small things that turn one closing into a referral pipeline. That’s the value of a mentor, and it’s why finding one early changes the shape of a career. Two and a half years in, she hit a ceiling and knew she wasn’t growing anymore, which is when she started looking at PAK.
The routine is the business. Jessica is candid that her obstacles are mostly internal. Her words: she’s her own worst enemy, and if she can push those things out of the way, she can be more involved in her business. She ties it directly to physical health, that if you can’t take care of yourself, you can’t take care of your business. What she gets from the mountain is gratitude before expectation, which is a different way to start a day than most of us manage. It’s why she keeps showing up to role plays even when she thinks she could do them better.
Consistency compounds where nobody sees it. She committed to one video a week with another agent and has held it, missing once when she was sick. One of those videos hit 18,000 views, which she called baby numbers, and I called incredible. The point isn’t the view count. It’s that she stepped out of her comfort zone online, saw it work, and now she’s asking what else she can do.
She’s not done. Jessica has been a buyer’s agent, and she’s pushing into listings now, which means having the hard conversations about dropping a price. She says there’s nothing she feels she can’t do at this point, and having watched the last two and a half years, I believe her.
